We’re partnering with FotoFest to run a four-day program “Write to See!”
Youth will explore journalism as a creative tool for self-expression, civic engagement, and positive change. Workshops use movement journalism and civic journalism to help participants develop their voices, sharpen their reporting skills, and imagine future careers in media.
Schedule: August 3–6, 2026 | 10 AM–2 PM
Location: Silver Street Studios, 2000 Edwards Street, Houston, TX 77007
Youth: 14–18-year-olds living in the Greater Houston area
Registration is $161.90 ($150 ticket + $11.90 Eventbrite fee). Registration fee includes provided lunch and swag.
All participants will complete the program with:
An outline of their own op-ed that focuses on an issue in their community
A story of self they may use to galvanize their peers, arts community, and local leaders
A self-portrait paired with the topic of their story of self
The program concludes with an exclusive opportunity for participants to publish their stories on Shift Press, giving their work a public platform.
